I studied Molecular Biology and Gender Studies in the redwoods at the University of California at Santa Cruz. Then I got my MPH from the Infectious Disease Division of the Berkeley School of Public Health where teaching introductory biology almost killed me. I've worked on Helicobacter pylori, Mycobacterium marinum, but now I think about STIs all the time. In the past I've volunteered for the HIV/AIDS/HepC Niteline and the Prison University Project Teaching math at San Quentin. I bring to ISIS my love of the "big-picture" and my dislike of details. I love meeting new public health partners and figuring about the best ways to communicate complex sexual health information in exciting and useful ways.
In addition to my love for agents of infection, I currently study American Sign Language and am learning to play the banjo. I can't get enough desert roadtripping and ghosttown hunting when I'm not in front my computer. I love good beer, great cheese and reading…sometimes all at once. |
