Bhupendra Sheoran

Deputy Director

As someone who was groomed for, studied and practiced medicine, it was with a lot of angst that I jumped into public health but I have never looked back since. My name is Bhupendra Sheoran but I go by my last name- Sheoran. Confuses a lot of people but it’s also a great conversation starter. In my enthusiasm to learn, I spent a good chunk of my younger years accumulating what I believed to be a wealth of information like an medical degree, MBA in health management, a post graduate diploma in hospital administration etc etc but I quickly learned that without practical knowledge and experience, most of these were of little value. I have worked in developing and developed countries both as clinician and a public health professional which has given me the opportunity to look at health both at the individual as well as at the population level thereby opening many new doors for possible interventions. I love challenges and I constantly push my own limits. Over my professional career, I have worked with a diverse range of people including the LGBTQ community, South and South-East Asians, Native Americans and Pacific Islanders. Each of these experiences has taught me compassion, respect and humility and as I write this I continue to learn…….
